Movember Men's Health Awareness

Hi to all taking part in this year's Movember moustache growing challenge!

I'm still amazed at how many people (men & women) are unaware of Movember & the importance of raising this awareness for men's health.
So . . . if you are growing a moustache, then tell others & get them involved too . . . or if you are a man & are moustache free, then join in !!!

It's just for fun, but with an important message to support Prostate Cancer & mens health awareness of the need for regular checks etc.
Visit www.movember.com & check into the UK page & join the crowd for a good cause.

Happy growing!
Best wishes,
Lori

There's nothing to Fear on Halloween!

Halloween has become a time of year when it's okay to be afraid of whatever goes bump in the night! Dressing up in spooky clothing and dripping in blood, seems to be entertainment in some places . . . but what if those fears are real fears. Then it can make some people feel really vulnerable.
There's simply no need to live in fear of anything or anyone, we all deserve more than that and we all deserve to feel peaceful and happy in ourselves. Or shall we say "feeling comfortable in our skin".

So, go and seek some help or advice, as there are many very effective techniques out there through Neuro Linguistic Programming, Emotional Freedom technique and Thought Field Therapy, which means that your worst fears can be a thing of the past.
Visit www.mindbodywellbeing.co.uk for further information on creating change today.
. . . and have a 'Happy' Halloween!

Best wishes, Lori

Clear Your Head of Clutter!

Just think for a moment of how much "stuff" we carry around as clutter in our minds . . . all the jobs we are doing; are yet to complete; yet to even start . . . all our personal worries and concerns . . . all of our worries and concerns about friends/family/colleagues etc etc etc . . . wow, the lists can be never ending!
And then . . . if you read the newspapers and listen to the radio, then there's even more chance of other stuff going in too! No wonder some people find it hard to switch off and get to sleep at the end of their day!!!

So, what to do ?

Maybe just doing a very simple task of writing the "stuff" down on a piece of paper (or pieces, depending on how much there is!) . . . and then analysing it's degree of importance to you and re-writing 2 lists ~ one as an action plan of what, when & how you are going to do each of those things ~ and tick them off as they come to a conclusion for you. The other list is for all the things which are out of your control and you have no effect on ~ which means it's someone elses "stuff" and you can let it move on from cluttering your mind.
Even if you just move a couple of things on each week, then that means you can sleep better at night and focus your mind on the things that you can effect in your life.

Let me know how it goes!
Good luck de-cluttering

Share a Smile with Others!

Smiling is good for you!

It releases positive endorphines into your blood stream and lifts your spirit.
When you smile at others, it becomes a natural unconscious reaction to smile back, which always makes you feel good to see others smiling too!

So . . . over the next few days, just smile at others you meet along the way during your day and brighten someone elses day!

Happy smiling . . .

Wednesday 9th March 2011~ National No Smoking Day

Every year we are encouraged to quit smoking with 'National No Smoking Day' to focus our attention on quitting this habit.
So what drives us to continue smoking?
Every smoker is fully aware of the health risks to themselves and others; the rising costs of cigarettes and tobacco to fund the habit; the effect smoking has on the environment they smoke in ~ ie., cigarette smell in furniture, clothing, the breath, stained fingers and discoloration of teeth etc., . . . . . . and because of this awareness, nearly every smoker has spent times when they've planned quitting, set dates to quit, maybe stopped for a short period . . . . and then gone back onto smoking again.
As with any habit or addiction, however you like to think of it, it's not all about the cigarette!
As a Cognitive Hypnotherapist, the majority of smoking clients that I see, find it calms them down, helping them unwind and relax after a stressful day, it might be a social thing for them ~ feeling part of a group of others who smoke too (partners/friends/colleagues), or they might enjoy the ritual side of rolling their own!
However you look at it, you also need to be fully aware of the 'downside' of smoking, the long term health effects it has on the lungs, throat and body. Their are more positive, healthy ways of relaxing and de-stressing, such as learning deep breathing techniques, yoga, tai chi, exercising or meditation to anme but a few.
So if you've started your year with a resolution to stop smoking this year, then their is no time like the present! Waiting until tomorrow, or next week, or after the next special event just prolongs the point. Support and help for stopping smoking can be found on www.nosmokingday.org.uk and www.smokefree.nhs.uk where many helpful tips and advice can be found, then the rest is down to you! Alongside these support networks you might like to consider the benefits of Hypnotherapy techniques, which can help to reduce the cravings and lessen the withdrawal symptoms, making it an easier journey for you to make!
